(Via Vienna Youth Soccer) – It was recently confirmed that the U16G Phoenix ’99 will represent Vienna and Virginia in the National Premier League Finals this summer in Aurora, CO, July 14-18. The team earned this by virtue of winning the U16 Girls Division of the Virginia Premier League this past fall. They will face the champions of 18 other NPL leagues from across the country.

This was Vienna’s inaugural season in the VPL and thus the first team to represent Vienna at the NPL finals. The team was unbeaten through the fall season going 7-0-1 and outscoring their opponents 42-3.

U16G Phoenix ’99 will have a busy summer.

The team is also the 2015/2016 Virginia State Cup Champions and will head to Barboursville, WV for the USYSA Region I Championships, June 30 to July 5. This will test the team against other state champions throughout the northeast.

Four years ago, the Phoenix ’99 (formerly Patriots Black) was the Region I Finalist. If the team becomes Region I Champions, or possible the finalist, they will head to Frisco, TX the end of July for the USYSA National Championships.

Coach Hank Leung said, “It’s a magical time for a well-deserving group of young ladies. This team looks to make the nation take notice of this small, proud community as they compete to plant the “we’re just Vienna” flag at the summit in all competitions.”
