Highlights from Day 3:

2002 Girls: Region I v. Region III

Region III held off a second-half surge from Region I to notch its first win of the tournament 3-2. After being held scoreless in its previous game, Region III scored the first three goals as Jolie Baltzegar netted the first goal in the 19th minute, and Jillian Martinez doubled Region III’s lead in the 39th minute. Georgia’s Renee Lyles gave Region III a 3-0 lead in the 44th minute, but Region I responded with Taylor Bryan’s goal in the 57th minute. Region I’s comeback attempt gained more steam in the 70th minute when Megan Donnelly, who scored nine goals at the 2015 US Youth Soccer Region I Championships for finalist North United Rush (PA-W), found the back of the net. However, that would be as close as Region I would get as the match ended 3-2.

2002 Girls: Region II v. Region IV

Region II moved to the top of the group after a 2-1 win over Region IV in a match featuring both winners from day one. 2015 US Youth Soccer Ohio-South State Cup champ CUP Gold 01/02’s (OH-S) Kailyn Dudukovich began the scoring in the 19th minute for Region II, and Dilary Heredia-Beltran, who led all scorers in the Under-13 Girls group at the 2015 US Youth Soccer Region II Presidents Cup for KRW Rush (KS), doubled Region II’s lead in the 54thminute with her second goal in as many games. Cal North’s Kass Ceja pulled Region IV back within one goal in the 69th minute, but Region IV was unable to find an equalizer in the final minutes, and the game finished with a 2-1 score.

Region I notched its second win in as many days by defeating Region IV 2-1. 2015 US Youth Soccer Region I semifinalist with Premier Strikers (MD) Phoebe Canoles broke the scoreless stalemate for Region I in the second straight game with a goal in the 20th minute. Five minutes later Corinne Dente doubled Region I’s lead, but 2014 US Youth Soccer ODP Region IV Championships finalist Isabella McBride of Colorado cut Region I’s lead in half in the 38th minute. Region I would hold off Region IV for the 2-1 victory and will take on Region II in a battle of undefeated teams Thursday, Nov. 26th.

2001 Girls: Region III v. Region II

Region II cruised to its second straight win with a 5-1 victory over Region III. 2014 US Youth Soccer Region II Champion and National finalist with Michigan Hawks 01 (MI), Ally Childers struck first in the 12th minute and ten minutes later in the 22nd minute. 2012 US Youth Soccer Illinois State Cup Champion Kalyssa Van Zanten added a hat trick, while 2014 US Youth Soccer Region III Championships semifinalist Tennessee SC 2019’s (TN) Harper White got Region III on the board in the 80th minute.
