US Youth Soccer cancels upcoming National League Texas event

US Youth Soccer has canceled the upcoming National League Texas event due to ongoing winter weather conditions in the area.

See below for the full announcement from USYS:

“Following an ongoing evaluation of the current and anticipated conditions in Dallas, Texas, US Youth Soccer is canceling National League Texas, which was scheduled for Feb. 19-21.

This decision, while difficult, is being made with safety of all involved as the top priority.

The record low temperatures and snowfall across Texas are highly unusual, and many parts of the state are not equipped to manage these weather conditions. With additional precipitation and freezing temperatures forecast for later this week, there is a high likelihood for poor travel conditions at the onset of the event, as well as unplayable field conditions. Because of those factors, we believe that canceling the event is the safest and most responsible course of action.

All teams will receive a refund for the $1200 event fee within the next 21 days. At this time, there is no plan to reschedule the event. Should that change, we will notify teams with an update.

Anthony Travel has been made aware of the event cancelation and will take care of canceling any reservations that were made through them for National League Texas. One of the benefits of booking through Anthony Travel is that all rooms will be cancelled without fees or penalties, and they will take care of those cancellations for you automatically. There is nothing more that needs to be done on your end in order to cancel your rooms booked through Anthony Travel. If any team is still planning to travel and wants to keep their hotel rooms for any reason, please notify Anthony Travel as soon as possible by emailing [email protected]. Please note: Anthony Travel is closed today (2/15) and will begin canceling reservations first thing tomorrow morning.

We appreciate your continued understanding and support through the recent challenges.
