University of South Florida women’s soccer alum signs pro contract in France

TAMPA, FL – Former University of South Florida soccer player Andrea Hauksdottir has signed to play for Le Havre Athletic Club in France. The 2018 and 2019 American Athletic Conference Midfielder of the Year is signed through the end of the current season, according to a release from the team.

“We’re so happy for Andrea as she takes another step in her post-collegiate career,” head coach Denise Schilte-Brown said. “Le Havre is getting a tremendous player with Andi. We’re excited to see her continue to excel on the field with this new opportunity in France.”

The Icelander started all 78 games of her Bulls career, scoring 18 goals and tallying 26 assists for 62 points. She finished second on USF’s career assists list behind Siri Nordby (28), fifth on the program’s games played list, ninth on the all-time shots list (128) and 10th on the career goals list. In total, she played 6,644 minutes in green and gold.

Hauksdottir was a consistent member of conference award lists. A three-time AAC All-Conference first-team selection, Hauksdottir was also on the AAC’s All-Rookie team in 2016 and was on the preseason all-conference team in 2017, 2018 and 2019. She was also named to the United Soccer Coaches All-Region team in 2017 (second team), 2018 (second team), and 2019 (first team), while also being selected a USC Scholar All-American in 2019.

Hauksdottir was a member of one of the most accomplished classes in program history. She helped lead the team to three conference titles and three NCAA Tournaments. Hauksdottir’s senior season saw the team win a program-best 16 games, ending with the team’s first-ever trip to the third round of the NCAA Tournament.
