MORAGA, Calif. (Via Saint Mary’s College) — Saint Mary’s women’s soccer head coach Travis Clarke has announced the signing of Laura Trapero Sanz, a defender from Spain, in anticipation of next season.

“Laura is a very good central defender,” said Clarke. “She has good size and speed and is good in the air. She is calm on the ball and likes to connect passes into the midfield.”

“Her soccer IQ and athletic ability will help our program a lot moving forward. In addition, she is a very strong student and will fit in very well academically at Saint Mary’s.”

Trapero Sanz played for Madrid CFF and the Madrid Regional Team before signing with the Gaels. She is currently undecided in what she will be studying while in Moraga.

“After receiving several offers from other universities in the United States, I decided to go to Saint Mary’s because of the great level of soccer and the opportunity to compete in one of the best conferences,” said the 5-9 Trapero Sanz. “It is also a university with a lot of prestige at an academic level. Thank you to Coach Clarke for the trust placed in me and for giving me this opportunity.”
