Rutgers women’s soccer signs Marcia Ojo and Adela Vasakova

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers women’s soccer head coach Mike O’Neill has announced the addition of Marcia Ojo and Adela Vasakova to the Scarlet Knights’ 2025 roster.

Ojo transfers in from Columbia for her graduate season after earning All-Ivy Honorable Mention, All-Ivy Tournament Team, and Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week honors as a defender for the Lions over three seasons. She was named to the Top Drawer Soccer Top 100 Freshmen list in 2021.

I chose Rutgers for its culture of resilience and its commitment to pushing players toward their full potential,” Ojo said. “From the very start, the coaches and staff shared a clear vision for how they could help me reach the next level, both on and off the field. Their belief in my growth and development inspires me, and I’m excited to join a program that challenges me to excel as a player and as a person, while working toward ambitious goals.”

Ojo, who missed 2022 with an injury, has played in 49 contests with a goal and two assists out of the back. Ojo played for PDA’s 2017-18 ECNL club and was named to the United Soccer Coaches All-Conference Team in the Northeast, helping PDA to the 2021 North Atlantic Conference title.

Vasakova arrives at Rutgers for her first collegiate season from Slovakia, where she played as a forward for the Slovak National Team at the U15, U17, and U19 levels, along with Tatran Presov FC in the first league. She won a national championship with her club and finished in first place four years in a row. She is currently a substitute for the Slovakia Senior Women’s National Team.

“I got a recommendation from a student counselor and I think this is a huge opportunity for me to grow personally and in soccer,” Vasakova said.

Vasakova played with the Slovakia U17 and U19 teams in the UEFA Women’s Qualifiers. Over the last two seasons with Presov, she scored 20 goals in club play.
