Rush For The Cup heads to Maryland SoccerPlex this weekend
Following the August Cup last weekend, which was unfortunately hampered by rain, Maryland Rush and Alliance Soccer Club are set to host the second annual Rush For The Cup this Labor Day weekend at the Maryland SoccerPlex.
Teams from Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania and New Jersey will compete in the preseason event, featuring 18 divisions in age groups ranging from U10 to U17. Matches will be played on the SoccerPlex’s 22 fields, with each side playing three matches over the course of the weekend. The event features a Championship Division composed of top level teams, and Challenge Divisions with teams from travel soccer divisions 2-6 or equivalent.
The tournament is also taking part in the Passback Program put on by Major League Soccer and the U.S. Soccer Foundation, which recycles gently used soccer gear for the less fortunate players in the United States and around the world. In recent years, gear has been donated to countries such as Afghanistan, Cameroon and Iraq. Collection bins at the SoccerPlex will be located next to the headquarters tent.
