By Jimmy LaRoue
The PWSI Toys for Tots tournament begins this weekend with play in the Under-9 through U-12 boys’ and girls’ age groups.
More than 200 teams will tune up for their fall seasons in the tournament. People are encouraged to bring an unwrapped toy to benefit the Toys for Tots program.
The following weekend, Sept. 1-2, will feature U-13 through U-19 teams.
U-9 and U-10 games will take place on the synthetic turf fields at Long Park, while U-11 and U-12 games will take place on the synthetic turf fields of Hellwig Park and Howison Park.
Weather forecasts call for temperatures in the mid-70s on Saturday and mid-80s on Sunday, with a 40 percent chance of scattered thunderstorms each day.
