Ole Miss signs forward Stella Downing on transfer from Memphis

OXFORD, Miss. – Ole Miss head soccer coach Matt Mott has announced the signing of transfer forward Stella Downing to the 2021 signing class. Downing is set to join the Rebels for the 2021 season.

The Vancouver native brings a season of collegiate experience with her to Oxford after transferring from Memphis. Downing looks to step in and give the Rebels some extra firepower on offense.

Downing becomes the 10th member of the Rebels’ incoming freshmen class, joining Maddie Bishop, Whitaker Buchanan, Amber Fortenberry, Kaitlin Maynard, Ellie McIntyre, Lauren Montgomery, Alyssa Zalac, Lily Logan and spring enrollee Shea O’Malley.

MEMPHIS: Spent one season at Memphis, appearing in all 12 matches for the Tigers … Tallied two assists and took five shots, putting four on goal in her freshman campaign … Logged a career-high 62 minutes and recorded her first collegiate assist against the Rebels … Assisted on the Tigers lone goal in a 2-1 loss at No. 21 South Florida … Played 49 minutes in the Tigers’ First Round NCAA Tournament game.

CLUB/ODP: Played forward/midfield at Burnaby Central Secondary School and with Vancouver Whitecaps FC … Member of the U17 Canadian National Team … Earned bronze in the 2018 CONCACAF Women’s U17 Championship … Trained in six U17 camps … Drew first international cap and start against Team USA in the 2018 CONCACAF Women’s U17 Championship.
