New board members elected at 2013 US Youth Soccer AGM
FRISCO, Texas — The US Youth Soccer membership recently elected new board members at the Annual General Meeting at the Sheraton Overland Park Hotel in Overland Park, Kan., held in conjunction with the 2013 US Youth Soccer National Championships.
Six positions were up for election at the meeting, including vice president, treasurer, two regional director positions, one of two independent director positions and member at large.
Evelyn Gill was reelected as vice president for another two-year term, Bob Palmeiro for another two-year term as Region I Director, Dennis Brumfield for another term as treasurer, and Michael Humphrey was selected for his second term as an independent director. The meeting resulted in two newly-elected board members, as Jesse Harrell was elected as Region III Director and Sohail Qureshi was chosen as member at large.
Harrell, of Houston, Texas, will take over for Bob Singer as Region III Director. Harrell has been involved in youth soccer since 1987 in numerous capacities. He has served as a State Representative for Region III and has been involved with the Region III Premier League since its inception in 1996, most recently serving as Region III Premier League Director. Harrell has also served on the South Texas Youth Soccer Board since 1996 and held the role of president for the last six years.
Qureshi, of Grand Rapids, Mich., replaces John Murphy as member at large. Qureshi has been involved in soccer for more than 20 years in Michigan as a player, coach and referee. A native of Karachi, Pakistan, Qureshi is currently the President of the Michigan State Youth Soccer Association Board of Directors and previously held the position of District Commissioner for the Metro Southwest District.
