LEESBURG, VA – Loudoun Soccer has hired Colin Smith as the new club Executive Director, effective January 15, 2018. This appointment comes after the announced retirement of current executive director Christine Pittman.

The club extends its sincere gratitude to Pittman, who has been a driving force of good for Loudoun Soccer over the last several years.

Smith is currently Associate General Manager of Georgetown Sports Properties but will step down from that role to focus on efforts here full time. Prior to this role, he was Assistant Athletics Director and Director of Corporate Sponsorship for Georgetown University (2011-2015). His role prior to that was Director of Corporate Relations for George Mason University (2007-2011).

“We would like to thank Chris for all her hard work, long hours and dedication to our club. She has worked relentlessly to expand staff, club programs and ensure the clubs financial stability. Her greatest desire was for kids to develop and have fun, and we believe she has accomplished that. Her work has helped put Loudoun Soccer on the map, and it shows with the huge success of the club in recent years”, said Mike Harris, Board President. “We look forward to now working closely with Colin in his efforts. He is fully prepared for his new role and will continue to strengthen Loudoun Soccer.”

“I am honored and thrilled to join the Loudoun Soccer community,” Smith said. “This is a wonderful opportunity for my family and I’d like to thank the Board of Directors and the entire staff for welcoming me with open arms. I especially want to thank Chris Pittman for the outstanding job she has done leading us to this point. I plan to build on this foundation and drive forward into the next era of Loudoun Soccer.”

Smith’s hire was a logical choice. With a strong sports and athletics background, including marketing, leadership, and corporate sponsorship, Smith brings valuable knowledge and insight to the club. Originally from Springfield, Va. and currently living in Arlington, he brings familiarity with the area, including strong connections to multiple local universities.
