Loudoun Soccer coach Mark Ryan awarded Virginia Youth Soccer Association 2014 Boys Competitive Coach of the Year

Leesburg, VA (Via Loudoun Soccer) – Loudoun Soccer coach Mark Ryan has been awarded the Virginia Youth Soccer Association 2014 Boys Competitive Coach of the Year as well as the US Youth Soccer Region I 2014 Boys Competitive Coach of the Year.

The Competitive Coach of the Year is awarded to a competitive coach for both a boys’ team and a girls’ team for his or her coaching activities, sportsmanship, player development, personal coaching development and citizenship. The Virginia Youth Soccer Association (VYSA) presents the award each year at its annual Soccer Convention to honor special individuals for their service and accomplishments in soccer in the state of Virginia. The national Boys and Girls Competitive Coaches of the Year are announced at the US Youth Soccer Awards Gala, as a part of the US Youth Soccer Workshop.

Mark Ryan has been at Loudoun Soccer for three years and is now heading into his fourth. Along with his responsibilities as the Travel Director for Loudoun Soccer, Coach Ryan is also the Head Coach for the Northern District of the Olympic Development Program (ODP) in the state of Virginia. Earlier this summer, Coach Ryan topped off a successful year at the US Youth Soccer National Championships with his Loudoun 98 Boys Red team.

“We are extremely proud of Mark and his dedication to not only our organization, but the sport of soccer itself,” Darryl Gee, Technical Director at Loudoun Soccer, said on Wednesday. “Both of these prestigious awards are in full recognition of Mark’s hard work, achievements, and dedication to the sport of soccer on and off the field. Mark sets an example for all of us, and particularly his players, on a daily basis. He has had a positive impact on the lives of many youth at Loudoun Soccer, in the state of Virginia, and across the Region.”

“On behalf of Loudoun Soccer, would like to extend our congratulations to Mark on winning these awards,” Tom Thomas, Board President at Loudoun Soccer, said, “We are extremely excited for Mark on his accomplishment and it is a true testament of the hard work he puts in every day. As the Travel Director, he sets a high standard not only for himself but all the travel coaches that he manages. He and his team are always committed to bringing their “A” game in everything they do, especially coaching and developing our players.”

The USYS Region I Competitive Coach of the Year Award presentation will be held January 16, 2015 in Philadelphia, PA. The VYSA Competitive Coach of the Year Award presentation will be held January 2015 in Arlington, VA.
