FC Frederick, Club Champions League co-hosting ScrimmageFest
FC Frederick and the Club Champions League (CCL) are hosting ScrimmageFest this weekend for U-9 and U-10 teams in Buckeystown, Maryland.
It will be the 25th ScrimmageFest held by FC Frederick, the originator of the event, and the first go-around for new CCL member club Lee Mount Vernon SC and CCL II club Ellicott City SC.
Other participating clubs include CCL members Arlington Soccer Association, Fredericksburg FC, Loudoun Soccer Club, McLean Youth Soccer, Potomac Soccer Association and Southwestern Youth Association (SYA).
Rising U-9 boys and girls teams will play four 35-minute matches each on Saturday, August 22 while the U-10 age group will take the field on Sunday.
Along with the matches, which are officiated by coaches to encourage free play, players will have the opportunity to participate in a skills competition, including juggling and dribbling/passing categories. The skills competition will be available from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
This weekend’s ScrimmageFest is the first of three for the 2015-2016 season. The Fall ScrimmageFest date and location is still to be determined, while the Spring 2016 ScrimmageFest is slated for May 21-22 in Fredericksburg.
