EDP Soccer has announced the Best XI from last weekend’s EDP Florida Competitive League Playoff event.

The Best XI from the EDP Florida Competitive Leagues Playoff are:

ACADEMIA METODO COIRA 2010 ELITE – OR BENDAKON #70

Bendakon was a stand out leading the team’s front line as they went on to win the championship. The athletic goalscorer used his pace, strength and terrific dribbling to give defenders problems all weekend. During the playoff, he scored 8 goals and 5 assists.


BARÇA ACADEMY PRO MIAMI 2010 B DE JONG – BENJAMIN PESCE #7

Pesce is a defender who is essential to the possession-based style of the team. He defended strongly against great competition all weekend. His excellent distribution out of the back helped the team maintain possession in difficult situations. His leadership in organizing the team and solid one v one defending helped the team throughout the Playoff games leading the team into the final.


BARÇA ACADEMY PRO MIAMI 2009 B PIQUE – AYDEN McFARLANE #8

McFarlane was the most consistent player on one of the top teams in the tournament, playing almost every minute leading the team to the championship. The center midfielder was the engine for the team and dominant on recovery and possession moments of the game


ACADEMIA METODO COIRA 2009 ELITE – NICOLAS SMESTER #20

Smester was a constant threat at forward, using his speed, playmaking and goal scoring ability to help carry the team into the final. He contributed 2 goals and 9 assists on the weekend.


DORAL ELITE 2008 – SERGIO PERELLO #11

Perello scored 6 goals during the weekend leading the team to the championship. The smart attacking player, Perello is a winger who is a constant threat.


DORAL ELITE 2008 – OMAR DUQUE #8

Duque is a defensive center midfielder who pulls the strings for the team. His playmaking ability helped the attack flow, while his defensive work was crucial in helping a back line that allowed just one goal during the competition.


IVES ESTATES THUNDER PREMIER 2008 – LUCAS BORENSZTEYN #8

Borenszteyn had an excellent weekend at center midfield, helping the team reach the final. From midfield, he had 4 assists and also added 1 goal.


DORAL ELITE 2007 – MAXI ANGELELLI #1

Angelelli, the team’s goalkeeper, was a key to the success. A true leader who gives his team confidence through his ability to remain calm and focused, he kept two clean sheets including a shutout in the final.


DORAL ELITE 2007 – MIGUEL PETTER #7

Petter is a forward with a very bright future. The team’s top scorer on their way to the championship, he has all the characteristics that make up a true striker.


JUVENTUS ACADEMY MIAMI THURAM 2007 – SANTIAGO MORATA-LOPERA #41

Morata-Lopera was excellent during the whole season and this weekend was no different. With his speed and skills with the ball, he was the team’s most outstanding player and helped the team to reach the final. Throughout the weekend, he played a key role in almost all of the team’s 12 goals.


KENDALL HAMMOCKS LIGHTNING U13 2008 – RACHEL BROWN #8

Brown is one of the top female players in the state. As a 2009, she plays up with the 2008 boys and has the special ability to make all the players around her better. The center midfielders soccer IQ is second to none and allows her to be extremely confident on the field. She helped lead her teams to an unbeaten weekend, falling just short of the final on a tie-breaker.
