ECNL Girls Finals 2025: Close games in every bracket featured on Day 1

Day 1 of the ECNL Girls National Finals was packed with exciting games in every bracket, with multiple age groups needing PKs to decide the semifinalists, tight contests and lots of goals and saves. Get caught up on all the action from Day 1 and the matchups for the semifinals.

U17 Bracket

It took penalties to find winners in two of the four U17 quarterfinal matchups. Michigan Hawks and VDA played a back and forth 3-3 draw that saw VDA advance into the semifinals 5-4 on penalties, while Real Colorado National advanced on penalties 4-3 over FC Stars Blue, after the two sides finished regulation tied 1-1. On the other side of the bracket, Slammers FC HB Køge advanced into the semifinals with a 4-2 win over NC Courage, while Sting Black defeated XF Academy 3-0.

U16 Bracket

At Striker Park, the defending national champions, San Diego Surf handed the hometown team Richmond United a 2-0 defeat, while KC Athletics advanced to the semifinals with a 4-2 victory against Beach FC (CA). On the other side of the bracket, Penn Fusion SA advanced to the semifinals with a 1-0 win over XF Academy, and will be joined in the semifinals by MVLA, who defeated Utah Royals FC-AZ 1-0.

U15 Bracket

A clean sheet saw Michigan Hawks defeat two-time defending national champions Slammers FC HB Køge, while Bay Area Surf also advanced into the semifinals with a clean sheet over FC Stars Blue. Legends FC and Solar SC rounded out the winners with identical 3-1 victories against MVLA and Fairfax VA Union, respectively.

U14 Bracket

Defending national champions San Diego Surf opened their title defense with a high-scoring 5-3 win over Solar SC. Surf will face off against So Cal Blues in the semifinals, after their 4-0 win over Eagles SC. On the other side of the bracket, Michigan Hawks advanced over FC Stars Blue, while Concorde Fire Platinum booked their spot in the semifinals on penalties over Eclipse Select SC.

U13 Bracket

Slammers FC HB Køge booked their place in the U13 semifinals with a 2-0 shutout victory over Washington Premier and will take on Southwest conference foe Beach FC (CA) in the semifinals, following their 3-2 win over So Cal Blues. On the other side of the bracket, San Diego Surf will take on Charlotte SA, following their wins over Sting Black and FC Delco, respectively.
