Culpeper SC joins CCL II for 2018-2019 season

Charlottesville, VA (Via CCL) – The Club Champions League (CCL) has announced the acceptance of Culpeper Soccer Club (CSC) into CCL II for the 2018-2019 seasonal year.

Culpepper SC is the largest youth sports program in Culpepper County, Virginia—located between Fredericksburg and Harrisonburg, it occupies an important geographic region for the continued development of CCL II. CSC maintains a Bermuda grass complex, a staff of professional soccer directors, and a mission to grow as a community-based club.

Technical Director, Dan Bales, explained his excitement about the opportunity in CCL II, “I’m thrilled for Culpeper Soccer Club to join CCL II this fall, and I firmly believe that our youth players will benefit and grow in this exciting league. As we strive for excellence on and off the field, [the leadership of] CCL presents opportunities for our youth players to challenge themselves in league play with clubs that share the same long-term philosophy of player development. Furthermore, the club-centric model of the league embodies the same vision of community that we actively promote. We are very much looking forward to CCL II match-days where our Travel teams will be in one location for game days, further enhancing the sense of family and community in our soccer programs.”

CCL President and Beach FC Executive Director, Steve Danbusky, echoed the sentiment, “We recognize that there are clubs in Virginia and Maryland that want to connect community with club. CCL II is the perfect platform for clubs that are professionally organized in it structure and are searching for a home that can help develop their club from within and with their community.”

CSC President, Jeff Capellini, commented on this solidarity, “Culpeper Soccer Club (CSC) is excited to become a new member of CCL II [the Club Champions League]. Over the past 3 years, CSC has worked very hard to expand our presence in the Culpeper community and to continually improve our programs and focus on players. During our discussions with CCL leadership, CSC was highly impressed with the CCL model and how the league places great emphasis on player and club development. We believe that CCL offers the best opportunity for our players and we are eager to start league play this fall!”

CSC will play in the CCL II match day format for boys and girls (age groups 11-17/18s).
