DALLAS, Texas (Via Dr Pepper Dallas Cup) – The Dr Pepper Dallas Cup has announced the inclusion of Brazil’s Coritiba FC and Mexico’s CF Monterrey to the tournament’s elite Gordon Jago Super Group in 2017.

Dr Pepper Dallas Cup XXXVIII will take place from April 9-16, 2017.

Making their sixth Dr Pepper Dallas Cup appearance, two-time Gordon Jago Super Group champion Coritiba will look to build upon their impressive Dallas Cup résumé next April. The club from south Brazil hoisted the Super Group “Boot and Ball” championship trophy in 2012 and 2015, when the club last appeared. Coritiba was unable to compete in last April’s tournament, but they will return in 2017 with their eyes set on their third Gordon Jago Super Group championship in six years.

Joining Coritiba in the Gordon Jago Super Group is Mexico’s CF Monterrey. Rayados hold the all-time Dallas Cup record for the most championships, winning sixteen “Boot and Ball” trophies across all age groups. 2017 will mark the third consecutive Super Group appearance for Monterrey as they seek their first Gordon Jago Super Group championship. In 2015, the club reached the final of the elite bracket, but lost to aforementioned Coritiba 3-1. Most recently, Monterrey reached the semi-finals of the U-20 Liga MX Apertura season.
Coritiba and Monterrey’s addition to the Gordon Jago Super Group complements a group which already includes storied Brazilian side Fluminense FC, Liga MX powerhouse Tigres UANL, and the 2016 Super Group champions, Everton FC of the English Premier League.
