Boise State adds a dozen student-athletes on National Signing Day

BOISE, Idaho – Boise State soccer head coach Jim Thomas announced the signing of 12 new Broncos as part of the 2021 recruiting class. The list includes three January enrollees.

Thomas and his staff continued their trend of adding local talent by penning three recruits from the Treasure Valley including ones from Boise, Eagle and Meridian.

Alexis Haws, a centerback who will join the team in January as an early enrollee, comes to the Broncos from Kuna High School and Boise Thorns FC (Boise, Idaho). Joining Haws is her Boise Thorns FC teammate Alicia Chatterton out of Bishop Kelly High School. Chatterton, a midfield/defender is also the younger sister of current senior Aubree Chatterton. The Broncos’ final Idaho recruit, Sophie Drown, comes from Eagle High School, and played club soccer for the OL Reign (Tacoma Wash.). She is a forward/midfielder and will also join the team in January as an early enrollee.

The final early enrollee joins the Broncos as their only recruit from Colorado. Grace Sommers a midfield/defender out of Legacy High School in Westminster. Sommers played club soccer for the Colorado Rapids (Fort Collins, Colo.).

The Broncos’ sole Washington recruit, Ashly Berge joins the team from Inglemoor High School in Bothell, Wash. Berge played club soccer for Crossfire SC (Redmond, Wash.).

Boise State’s lone goalkeeper in the class hails from Chandler, Ariz. Jazmyn Brass played her club soccer with Phoenix Rising FC (Tempe, Ariz.) and attended Perry High School.

The remaining six recruits all come from California and include three forwards and three midfielders.

For the forwards, Carly Cross joins the team from Canyon High School in Anaheim Hills, Calif. She played her club soccer with Slammers FC (Costa Mesa, Calif.). Joining her is fellow Slammers FC alum Makenna Potter out of Trabuco Hills High School in Foothill Ranch, Calif. The final forward is Evva Vail a forward/midfielder combo out of Rancho Buena Vista High School in Oceanside, Calif. Vail played for City SC (Carlsbad, Calif.).

The midfield group includes a third alum of Slammers FC, Michaela Justiniani from Chaparral High School in Temecula, Calif. Two recruits come from the LAFC Slammers (Newport Beach, Calif.), Reese Bodas and Mackenzie MacMillan. Bodas comes Newport Harbor High School in Newport, Calif. While MacMillan hails from Santa Margarita High School in Ladera Ranch, Calif.

The new Broncos join a squad looking to three-peat as regular-season champions for the first time in program history and earn a second-straight berth to the NCAA Tournament. The postponed 2020 fall season will be played in a modified format from March 5-April 11, 2021.
