Best college soccer teams: Top 25 NCAA men’s programs over the past 5 years

Every year, the United Soccer Coaches Polls and Rating Percentage Index (RPI) provide the college soccer world with insights into who the best teams are during a given season.

But which programs have sustained their success most consistently in recent years?

Over the past 5 seasons, Stanford has led the way with a trifecta of College Cup titles (2015-2017) under head coach Jeremy Gunn. Maryland (2018) coached by Sasho Cirovski and Georgetown (2019) led by Brian Wiese are the most recent College Cup champions.

Five other programs – Clemson (2015), Wake Forest (2016), Indiana (2017), Akron (2018) and Virginia (2019) – have each appeared in one College Cup Final since 2015.

Below, we take a look at the best 25 programs in NCAA men’s college soccer over the past 5 years, based on their average position in the end-of-season rankings from 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019. Rankings are based on a combination of United Soccer Coaches Polls and RPI.
