Arlington Soccer players participate in USYS ODP Winter Interregionals
Two Arlington Soccer Association players were members of the Region I team that competed in the US Youth Soccer ODP Winter Interregionals, featuring boys from the 1997 age group.
Michael Hurley and Eryk Williamson, who play for the U16B Strikers Red, were part of the 18-man side that competed against other ODP regional teams at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, FL December 13 – 16. Region I swept the tournament, winning their matches 1-0, 4-1 and 1-0. Williamson provided the lone goal in the final match against Region II, with Hurley getting the shutout.
Region I players had the opportunity to train with the U.S. U-17 Men’s National Team, and were showcased for national staff and collegiate coaches at IMG, the home of the US Soccer residency program for the nation’s top players. Hurley and Williamson, along with nine other Arlington Soccer players, are members of the 1997 Virginia team that won the Region I championship in June and are eligible to compete at the ODP National Championships in March, 2013 in Frisco, TX.
