All-Tournament Team selected for 2023 Men’s College Cup
The 2023 Men’s College Cup All-Tournament Team has been selected following the conclusion of the NCAA National Championship.
Clemson defeated Notre Dame 2-1 in the College Cup Final on Monday night in Louisville, earning the 4th national title in program history. A pair of Tigers: midfielder Ousmane Sylla and defender Pape Mar Boye, were honored as Most Outstanding Offensive Player and Most Outstanding Defensive Player, respectively.
Sylla scored what proved to be the game-winning goal of Monday’s College Cup Final in the 70th minute, his 13th and final tally of the season. Boye anchored a dominant Clemson back line throughout the tournament, culminating with a gritty effort against the Fighting Irish as the Tigers held them to just a single penalty kick goal, which came in the 89th minute.
In addition to their two Outstanding Player awards, Clemson placed four more players on the All-Tournament Team. Notre Dame had three players honored, while semifinalists Oregon State and West Virginia each had one.
