Albertson Academy adds to front office, full-time coaching staff

(Via Albertson Academy) – Albertson Academy has announced additions to its front office and coaching staff.

Albertson Academy’s new General Manager is Skip Thorp, USSF “A” License Coach, former FIFA instructor and assistant coach of the Portland Thorns FC of the NWSL. Our new USSF Academy Technical Director is Chad Prince, USSF “B” License, NSCAA Advanced National Diploma and former A League and MLS Player.

“Chad will be a huge plus in his new role. He is a soccer savvy tactician with a superb coaching voice and an insatiable appetite for the game.” said Paul Riley, Director of Coaching of the Albertson Academy, USSF “A” License coach and the Head Coach of the Portland Thorns FC of the NWSL. Albertson Academy has also added several new staff members: Greg Kenney USSF “A” License coach and Advanced NSCAA National Diploma; comes aboard with a deep resume and 30 years of coaching experience.

“Greg is a great addition. His calming influence, profound teaching ability make him popular, influential and detailed in his approach to training and game preparation.” said Riley.

Albertson Academy also welcomes Fausto Klinger back to the club. Fausto is now a USSF “A” License coach and joins a well-educated staff, all of who have played at the professional level. Klinger also has a USSF National Youth License and his playing career includes Deportivo Cyenca (Ecuador), LI Rough Riders (A League 2002 National Champions), Metrostars MLS.

“It’s fantastic to bring Fausto home again. He is energetic, knowledgeable and has an infectious personality. He was a tremendous player and his work ethic as a player is firmly established in his efficient, organized coaching style and brilliant soccer mind.” said Riley.

Steve Cadet shifts his coaching role to join the Albertson Academy U14 and Pre Academy U15 teams. He is a USSF “B” License Coach with a NSCAA Advanced National Diploma and is head coach of the Women’s Rough Riders team in the W League.

Daniel Leon and Marcelo Arango are the new Directors of our Youth USSF Academy teams U11 – U13. Both are experienced coaches and former professional players.

“Danny and Marcelo have been with our club for over 15 years. Their invaluable experience has resulted in a pipeline of creative, talented players, which is truly their signature. There important new roles will ensure our development roots are in the hands of two excellent caches where ball-work and skill based creative training sessions, and tactical applications that young payers find easy to comprehend,” commented Riley.

New Chief Scout, Jhon Cano completes the additions to the 2015 staff. His playing experience and scouting proficiencies will enable Albertson to ensure we continue to develop and embrace the best talent in Long Island.

“We are ecstatic about our structured changes and with the addition of so many qualified coaches we feel the club is well positioned to continue to produce top college prospects and professional players such as: Mike Crella, Andrew Jean Baptiste, Tim Parker, Philip Atbashyan, Nick Gaitlin, Jeongho Ahn, and Santiago Moore. We are all excited about the spring season and we are proud of our efforts to ensure the most dedicated, educated and qualified staff around. With that in place we look forward, to further developing our own five field complex, which we hope to break ground on in the next 18 months.
