Tournament Q&A: Pete Cinalli and Jono Rollins discuss Washington Invitational
The Fredericksburg Area Soccer Association will host its second Washington Invitational youth tournament in August. The girls weekend is scheduled for August 16 and 17 and the boys are scheduled for August 23 and 24. Senior contributor Dave Ungrady recently talked with FASA executive director Pete Cinalli and tournament director Jono Rollins about the tournament’s evolution and goals.
Doing the Double: Two-time Gatorade POY and Maryland commit George Campbell is a rare talent
Winning state Gatorade Player of the Year once is an outstanding achievement at the close of a high school season, but being recognized twice shows exemplary consistency at a high level of play in addition to impressive commitments off the field. George Campbell of the McDonogh School in Maryland has done just that, taking the honor for a second straight year. The senior midfielder found the net 23 times and assisted on 15 goals.
Virginia State Cup sees five out of six champions crowned
The spring edition of the annual Virginia Youth Soccer Association’s State Cup tournament wrapped up Sunday for all but the Under-14 boys. Prince William Soccer, Inc (PWSI) was the only club to take home two titles; but they could be matched by Braddock Road Youth Club (BRYC), who have yet to play in Under-14 final.

Region I Premier League concludes with tight scorelines between elite teams
Several local teams from both Baltimore and Metro DC took part in the the U.S. Youth Soccer Region I Premier League final four weekend. Three of those teams took home a championship and will now head to the US Youth Soccer Region I Championships.
