Florida group looking to build new $400M soccer specific stadium
The blog “The Offside Rules” discovered a fairly hidden website that details plans for a new $400 million soccer specific stadium in Tampa, Florida.
According to the stadium website, “VSI Flames, Inc. (VSI Tampa Bay Flames) recently entered in to a formal agreement with its funding partner PRI Development Partners LLC for the purpose of providing the Tampa Bay region with a first class and purpose built soccer stadium along with a separate 20+ training field and Academy complex.”
This new soccer specific stadium would seat 28,888 with a retractable roof and the ability to increase the capacity to 40,000. The website also states that the parties involved are “committed to securing an MLS soccer franchise to put the Tampa Bay region back on the international soccer map.”
