University of Oregon signs top high school soccer scorer in state history

EUGENE, Ore. – The University of Oregon soccer program will add the top scorer in Oregon high school history to the roster for the 2020 season. Callan Harrington of Jesuit High School has signed with the Ducks, head coach Graeme Abel announced.

The forward from Portland, Ore., scored 133 goals in her career for the Crusaders, one more than soccer Hall of Famer and U.S. national team star Tiffeny Milbrett (Hillsboro High School). Harrington passed Milbrett in the 2019 OSAA 6A state championship game by scoring a pair of goals in a 3-0 win over Mountainside.

It was Jesuit’s third straight state title. The Crusaders finished the year 19-0-1 with a No. 3 ranking in the USA Today/United Soccer Coaches Super 25 poll. They ended the season on a 58-match unbeaten streak dating to the 2016 state semifinals.

“Adding a player with the technical and character qualities is a great signing for us,” said Abel. “Callan knows she is coming into an environment where she can evolve as a student-athlete and maximize her potential.”

Harrington earned both all-state and all-American honors during her high school career. In addition to the state career record, she also set the single season mark with 55 goals as a senior in 2019. She was named the Gatorade State High School Girl’s Players of the Year as well as the Prep Girl’s Soccer Player of the Year by the Oregon Sports Awards.

The 6A player of the Year and Metro League player of the year was selected to play in the 2019 High School All-American Game.

Harrington’s club team was Crossfire United.
