Brown University men’s soccer names Adam Howarth as volunteer assistant coach

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Friends of Brown Men’s Soccer Head Coaching Chair Patrick Laughlin has announced that Adam Howarth will join the program as a volunteer assistant coach.

“Adam will add a great deal to our program both on and off the field,” said Laughlin. “It is exciting to add someone with his experience as a player and knowledge in sports science to the staff. I am very happy to get him onboard now for the spring semester.”

Howarth has served as the co-owner of Higher Level LLC Sports Performance since 2012, where he oversees all aspects of the business, including player education and the design and execution of speed, agility and quickness programs. He also serves as the head coach of five soccer academies at Higher Level, where he designs training curriculums for athletes of various ages.

In addition, Howarth has spent the past two seasons as the head coach for the South Kingstown High School boys’ soccer team, where he has led the program to consecutive state semifinal appearances.

As a player, Howarth was a two-time captain at the University of Rhode Island, and helped the team capture a pair of Atlantic-10 Championships. He went on to play professionally for AC Kajaani FC in Finland and also served as head coach of the men’s U19 team within the club.

Howarth graduated from URI in 2008 with a degree in kinesiology. He holds a United States Coaches National Diploma and an Advanced National Diploma.
