The St. James Soccer Performance Coach – Job Description

The St. James is the premier sports, wellness and active entertainment destination in the country, with 450,000 sq. ft. of developmental and competitive programs, teams and opportunities in more than 30 sports, and a wide range of premium fitness, performance, wellness and entertainment experiences.

The Soccer Performance Coach will lead and/or assist in the delivery of high performance training programs to individual, semi-private and groups of different ages abilities within The St. James Soccer Program. The Soccer Performance Coach will report to the Director of Soccer with additional oversight by the Director of High Performance. This role is a part-time, contractor role with a base pay of $40,000 with additional income opportunities through ancillary programs and growth incentives.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Create and deliver effective strength and conditioning programs to help athletes and members of all levels and abilities achieve their performance goals for the MLS Next, Girls Academy, Pre-MLS Next & Pre-GA (U9-U12) programs as well as managing our Player Development Academy (PDA) program in conjunction with the STJ High Performance and NSMI Performance Staff.

• Develop and help execute (including hiring of additional staff) supplemental soccer performance programs across Loudoun and Fairfax counties both in and out of season to provide additional athletic development programming opportunities for The St. James Soccer department.

• Conduct warm-ups, movement skills sessions, strength & power sessions, recovery sessions and performance testing sessions for The St. James Soccer Academy programs, teams, athletes and clients.

• Track athlete or client progress through monitoring and evaluation strategies.

• Communicate effectively with sport program directors, coaches, athletes, parents and other clients.

• Assist in customer service, business development, and marketing efforts to help grow the business.

• Inform the Director of High Performance about any issues and work with them to provide effective conflict resolution.

• Help ensure facility cleanliness, organization and maintenance.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science or a relevant field of study from an accredited institution.

• Current Strength & Conditioning certification (NSCA CSCS or equivalent).

• Current CPR/AED certification.

• Ability and experience instructing entry level skill athletes through advanced athlete. Previous strength and conditioning experience with youth, adult and/or college athletes preferred.

• Strong work ethic and organizational skills within a dynamic environment.

• Great customer service and communication skills.

• Excellent written and oral communication skills.

• Knowledgeable of safety training, procedures and best practices used throughout the sports and wellness industry.
