Robbie Rogers, a former Maryland, Columbus Crew, U.S. men’s national team and had most recently played for Leeds United, has started to do a number of interviews after announcing that he was gay and retiring from professional soccer, including one with ABC’s Nightline.
However, he is contemplating a decision to return to soccer in MLS, one in which he seems to have a lot of support.

“I think the same things that made it difficult for me to come out also gave me the strength,” Rogers said in the interview. “I was raised to be a voice, to be myself, to be unique, not to follow a pack.”
