Sophie Bolton: A Young Goalkeeper Making Her Mark On and Off the Field
Class of 2028 goalkeeper Sophie Bolton is proving she’s a force to be reckoned with—well beyond her years. Currently playing up with the Lexington Sporting Club 08 Green Girls team, Sophie has quickly become known for her confident presence, agility, and fearless approach between the posts.
As just a freshman, she stepped into the starting goalkeeper role at West Jessamine High School and made an immediate impact. Her standout performance earned her spots on both the All-Region and All-State teams—an impressive feat for any player, let alone a ninth-grader.
Her journey took another exciting step this summer when she was invited to train and officially roster with Lexington Sporting Club’s USL W League squad. In her debut against Indy Eleven, Sophie showed poise beyond her age, competing strongly against seasoned players and leaving a lasting impression.
Sophie’s dedication doesn’t stop when the whistle blows. She’s just as driven academically, maintaining a 4.2 GPA and earning a spot in the prestigious Rogers Explorer Program—a top STEM initiative for Kentucky youth. She’s also active in organizations like FCA and 4-H, showing her leadership in every area of life.
Later this month, she’ll travel with her Girls Academy team to Norco, California, to compete in the GA Summer Showcase. With college scouts sure to take notice, Sophie is on a promising path toward playing elite collegiate soccer. With her combination of talent, discipline, and drive, she’s just getting started.
