VANCOUVER, BC (Via Vancouver Whitecaps FC) – Vancouver Whitecaps FC announced that Tom Plasteras has been named director, broadcast and communications. Effective immediately, Plasteras will oversee the broadcast, media relations, communications, and community relations for Whitecaps FC.

A resident of North Vancouver, Plasteras joins Whitecaps FC with more than two decades of experience working in the broadcast industry with Corus Entertainment. During his time as CKNW senior program director, Plasteras oversaw all talent and content acquisition and was responsible for the brand and reputation management of the station, which was ranked number one in the market in each year of his tenure. Among his accomplishments at CKNW were broadcast agreements with the NHL, NBA, CFL, and WHL.

Privileged to work alongside some of the greatest sports broadcasters in Canada, Plasteras was responsible for bringing Jim Hughson back to Vancouver as the voice of the Vancouver Canucks, and with his partners at Orca Bay he created the format and sound of the Vancouver Grizzlies NBA broadcasts crew.

In addition to his role as program director, Plasteras was vice chair for the CKNW Orphans Fund, spending 20 years as the longest serving board member. Today, Plasteras serves as vice chair for Kitsilano Neighbourhood House.
