USYNT prospect Felipe Valencia becomes youngest goal scorer in USL history at age 15

U.S. Youth National Team prospect Felipe Valencia became the youngest goal scorer in USL history on Wednesday night, finding the net for USL League One side Fort Lauderdale CF.

The 15-year-old provided what proved to be the game-winner in the 56th minute for Fort Lauderdale in their 3-2 victory against North Texas SC.

Valencia is a member of the Inter Miami academy program, currently playing at the U-17 level. For Lauderdale is the USL affiliate of the Miami-based MLS club co-owned by David Beckham.

Also on the radar of U.S. Soccer, Valencia recently earned a call-up with the U.S. U-15 Boys National Team earlier this year. With last night’s goal, Valencia broke Canadian phenom Alphonso Davies‘ previous record as the USL’s youngest scorer.
