USMNT featured in CONCACAF Gold Cup doubleheader at Toyota Stadium in Dallas on July 7
FRISCO, Texas (Via FC Dallas) – The U.S. Men’s National Team will be joined by Panama, Haiti and the winner of Honduras/French Guiana series in the opening matches of the 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup on July 7 at Toyota Stadium, CONCACAF announced today.
Panama, featuring FC Dallas star Blas Perez, will open the doubleheader versus Haiti at 6 p.m. CT, while the U.S. will play the winner of the Honduras/French Guiana series in the nightcap at 8:30 p.m.
To date, 11 of the 12 national teams scheduled to participate have qualified for this year’s tournament, including Canada, Costa Rica, Cuba, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, Jamaica, Mexico, Panama, Trinidad & Tobago, and the United States. These teams will compete for the Confederation Crown in July along with a final team, which will be determined in late March through a play-in series between the fifth-place finisher of the 2014 UNCAF Central American Cup (Honduras) and the 2014 Caribbean Football Union Caribbean Cup (French Guiana). French Guiana will be the home team for the first leg on March 25, while Honduras will host the return leg on March 29.
Taking place every two years, the Gold Cup has established itself as the region’s most popular and prestigious national team tournament. Featuring the Confederation’s best players from 12 top nations, the competition routinely draws capacity crowds and millions of television viewers across the region and around the world.
