US Youth Soccer ODP international travel postponed due to coronavirus

US Youth Soccer has announced that upcoming USYS Olympic Development Program (ODP) international travel plans have been postponed due to air travel concerns related to the coronavirus outbreak.

Chris Duke, Director of ODP, and Mica Goodrich, National ODP Administrator, notified participants and their families on Wednesday. This news follows after USYS elected to cancel this month’s National League event in Las Vegas.

“Given heightened international air travel concerns, and with the health of our soccer community in mind, all scheduled USYS ODP international travel has been postponed.

The decision has been made in accordance with the guidance of public health and medical professionals as well as the consensus guidance from our travel partners, CDC, US State Department and WHO.

Our current roster of international travel providers have decades of experience and we thank them for their flexibility and professionalism during this difficult time.

Look for more information on future travel arrangements to come from Mica Goodrich who will issue additional travel details as they’re finalized.

We’d like to thank all of our USYS ODP families, staff and volunteers, for your ongoing support of USYS as we manage our programming given the current health and travel environment. The safety and security of our soccer community is, and always will be, our highest priority!

Please note, all policies regarding USYS activities are subject to change based on the ongoing review of circumstances.  Further details regarding the impact of coronavirus USYS programming will continue to be shared via official USYS communications channels.

Sincerely,

Chris Duke
Mica Goodrich”
