OCEANSIDE, CA — Five exciting days of action at the US Youth Soccer National League Semifinals in Oceanside, CA saw 30 girls teams and 30 boys teams qualify for the 2025 USYS National Championships.
The games in Oceanside featured top teams in the 14U-19U age groups from the National League’s club-based and team-based divisions, as each competing side earned its place in the event through its performance at quarterfinal events earlier this season.
Many of the coaches and players talked about the value of challenging themselves against National League competition and the confidence that can come from seizing the opportunities available to each team.
“It’s amazing to see these girls go through everything that they go through and the resilience that they have,” said CDA Slammers Elite 64 10G (CA-S) coach Mike McCarty, whose team bounced back after a loss in its opening game. “…Getting them to be able to compete on a big stage is a great experience with great fields, great refereeing, great competition. It’s been a blessing, and we’re excited to get to Florida.”
The 60 teams that qualified for the National Championships came from 22 different state associations, led by Cal South eight qualifiers. Florida, New Jersey and Utah followed with six qualifiers each.
Eight different clubs had multiple teams qualify for the National Championships, and 46 total clubs had at least one team punch its ticket to Nationals. City SC Utah and Los Angeles SC led the way, as they each had four teams advance to Nationals.
In addition to teams earning their place in the National Championships, five boys teams and five girls teams won tournament competition within the champions pool of their respective age groups.
