U15G Standings

Blue Division

The remaining teams in the Under-15 Blue Division have little room for error as they chase the second ticket to the National Championships that the group has to offer. Tophat 18 Gold (GA) has already clinched the division title and a trip to Tulsa, Okla., after becoming just the sixth team in league history to finish a season 7-0-0. There’s a good chance the race for second place could come down to the final day of play, as the teams competing in Las Vegas have some work left to do.

Notable teams

La Roca Premier PO (UT) — The Utah side is the only team playing in Las Vegas that can afford a loss. However, it likely needs at least two wins to have a shot at second place.

LA Galaxy SB Elite (CA-S) — The Galaxy are seven points back of second place. The Cal South side tied Cleveland FC, which could come into play in a tiebreaker scenario.

Corinthians SC 99 (CA-S) — Corinthians will need to win all three games in Las Vegas to have a chance at second place.

*Tophat 18 Gold (GA) — The Georgia side is heading back to the National Championships after a very strong National League campaign.

*Cleveland FC (OH-N) — With 11 points, Cleveland is currently in second place. It’s not a stretch to think the Ohio side could hold on to that spot, especially if there are some draws in a few Las Vegas games.

*Team has completed all seven games and will not be playing in Las Vegas.

Game to watch

March 21, LA Galaxy SB Elite (CA-S) vs. La Roca Premier PO (UT)
The first day’s results could provide a significant change to the outlook of the group, but this Saturday matchup features the two teams that enter the weekend with the best chance of finishing in second place. If the teams take care of business in their other games, the winner between Galaxy and La Roca would have the inside track at securing the division’s second berth to Nationals.

Red Division

The Under-15 Red Division is wide open entering play in Las Vegas. Legends FC 99 (CA-S) is currently in first place with a perfect record and still has three games to play during the season’s final weekend. A positive result or two would secure another National Championships berth for the Cal South side, but a couple remaining opponents have the chance to spoil Legends’ chances. Every point earned in the upcoming games will be crucial in determining which teams finish in the top two and qualify for Nationals in Tulsa, Okla.

Notable teams

Legends FC 99 (CA-S) — The 2013 National Champions are in a great position to secure a top-two finish and book a third trip to Nationals, but they can’t take anything for granted.

Carlsbad Elite 99 (CA-S) — Carlsbad won the Red Division last season as an Under-14 side and has yet to lose in National League competition. It will have a good chance at punching a ticket to Nationals if it continues that undefeated streak.

Penn Strikers (PA-E) — The Pennsylvania side enters the final weekend in fifth place — one point behind Carlsbad — and will have to take advantage of its opportunities against both of the Cal South sides.

*FC Virginia United Premier (VA) — FC Virginia is in currently in second place, but it will need a lot of the remaining results to go its way in order to finish there.

*Team has completed all seven games and will not be playing in Las Vegas.

Game to watch

March 20, Penn Strikers (PA-E) vs. Carlsbad Elite 99 (CA-S)
The division gets off to an exciting start with this matchup of teams separated by just one point in the standings. Carlsbad has the advantage of having been in a similar situation last year, and it doesn’t have to deal with the lengthy travel Penn Strikers will experience. However, the Pennsylvania side fared well against common opponents in North Carolina, as both teams displayed the ability to pull out some close games.
