University of Nevada signs freshman midfielder Luz Arreaga

RENO, Nev. (Via University of Nevada) – The Nevada soccer team has signed freshman midfielder Luz Arreaga from Gilroy High School to play for the Wolf Pack in 2019. From Gilroy, Calif., Arreaga lettered three years in soccer in high school and competed for the San Jose Earthquakes Academy U19 team.
“We are extremely excited about Luz joining us in 2019,” said head coach Erin Otagaki. “She is a technical player with a high soccer IQ and will add to our attack. We can’t wait for her to get on campus.”
As a part of her U19 club team, Arreaga scored three goals for the Earthquakes while starting 16 of her 17 games played.
Competing in the Gavilan League, Arreaga was named twice named a First Team All-League Honorable Mention. She was honored as her high school’s Athlete of the Year as well.
Arreaga decided to play at Nevada because “It’s a super competitive soccer program and I wanted to challenge myself into becoming a great player.”
