TSF Academy’s Lee Bakewell named New Jersey Youth Soccer Bob McNulty Coach of the Year

East Windsor, N.J. ― New Jersey Youth Soccer continues its virtual celebration of the 33rd Annual NJYS Awards Presented by RWJBarnabas Health today, officially announcing Lee Bakewell of TSF Academy as the 2020 NJYS Bob McNulty Coach of the Year.

In addition to receiving a plaque, Bakewell also participated in an exclusive interview by New Jersey native Carli Lloyd, who is an NJYS Ambassador and two-time FIFA World Player of the Year.

“There are many hard-working, talented and dedicated coaches in this region, so it definitely is a surprise to receive this recognition,” said Bakewell. “I am very thankful for the support we receive from our players, parents and soccer community, who continue to trust us and remind us why we do what we do on a daily basis.”

Bakewell has worked with TSF Academy for more than 12 years, serving as the Academy Director and Director of Coaching while currently holding the role of Technical Director. However, his influence extends much further beyond the realm of coaching. Bakewell is also responsible for much of the TSF Academy social media, marketing and communications, fundraising, event and game planning, and so much more. Whether it is on the field or in the office, he attempts to positively promote the game with every single action he takes.

“Coach Lee Bakewell does not only take the time to help others, but he strives to keep himself well educated and qualified within the sport,” said James Smith, TSF Academy Girls Director of Coaching. “Lee recently passed his USSF A Youth License and continues to invest in himself as a coach so he can continue to expedite his players’ development.”

Bakewell personifies the TSF Academy philosophy of inspiring players to play the right way and provides his players with a clear development pathway to the highest level of soccer. For him, it is not just about winning when it comes to coaching his players. He feels that how you play the game is much more significant. Bakewell believes that learning the importance of sportsmanship and being a team player are among the greatest attributes you can acquire through playing the game.
