LAWRENCE, Kan. (Via University of Kansas) – A standout midfielder from Sweden has been added to the 2019 KU roster after it was announced that Ebba Costow will join the Kansas soccer team this fall by KU head coach Mark Francis on Wednesday.

Costow will come to Lawrence after a two-year stint with IK Uppsala, a team in the top division of the Swedish women’s soccer league, Elitettan. The 5-foot-5 midfielder has also seen time with Sweden’s U16 national team.

“I am excited to add a player of Ebba’s quality to our already talented incoming 2019 class,” said Francis. “Ebba comes to us having played at a very high level in Sweden. She is a very technical central midfielder who solves the game extremely well, especially in tight spaces in the middle third. She is athletic and will fit in really well with our style of play and philosophy.”

A native of Uppsala, Sweden, Costow is the sixth newcomer to be added to the 2019 KU soccer roster, which is looking to fill the void left by six departing letterwinners and three starters from last year’s NCAA Tournament team.
