Solar SC wins 2026 ECNL Girls International Tournament title in England

After an exciting first day of group play action at the ECNL International Tournament, powered by Coaches’ Voice and in association with Everton International Academy, four teams remained on Friday with a chance to lift the inaugural trophy.

Solar SC and Bay Area Surf advanced through Group A play on Thursday, while Legends FC and Chelsea FC advanced through Group B play, setting up semifinal matches between Solar SC and Chelsea FC and Bay Area Surf against Legends FC.

In the first semifinal match, Solar SC continued their outstanding defensive effort, posting their fourth clean sheet in as many games in a 1-0 win over Chelsea to book their spot in the semifinals. Addyson Boone‘s game-winning goal in the second half was her fourth goal of the tournament and she was also named the Player of the Match in Solar’s victory.

In the second semifinal, Group B winners Legends FC took on Bay Area Surf. Legends grabbed the lead early in the first half as Aaliyah Sione Johnson scored twice to give Legends a 2-0 lead. Bay Area Surf responded with a penalty late in the first half that was converted by Lynn Byun.

In the second half, Bay Area Surf pushed for the equalizer, but the Legends defense held strong to secure the 2-1 win and their spot in the final. Koi Nesta Edwards, who scored four goals in the group stage, including a hat trick, was named the Player of the Match for Legends FC, while Kensyn Laird was named the Player of the Match for Bay Area Surf.

Those two games set up a championship match between Solar SC and Legends FC, with both teams reaching the final with 4-0 records over the two days.

Avery Barrett and Boone fired home goals for Solar SC in the championship match, for Boone it was her fifth goal of the tournament to lead all scorers.

Once again though it was the Solar SC defense that shined and helped lead them to victory. Solar posted their fifth clean sheet of the tournament and successfully made it through the entire two days without conceding a goal as they secured the 2-0 win to claim the inaugural ECNL International Tournament Championship.

Solar SC’s championship win meant ECNL teams went two for two at the ECNL International Tournament, after North Carolina FC claimed the boys’ title on Wednesday.
