PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers women’s soccer head coach Mike O’Neill has announced the addition of Abigail Cox, a sophomore midfielder transfer from TCU, to the Scarlet Knights’ 2025 roster.

Cox played 16 matches for the Frogs, averaging 22 minutes and picking up four assists as a rookie in 2024. She had two matches with a pair of assists in matching 5-1 wins over Cal Poly and Arizona State.

The Portland, Oregon native was named the 2023 Gatorade Player of the Year for the state of Oregon while playing for Jesuit High School and the Portland Thorns Academy in the ECNL. She also earned 2023 Youth Girls All-America honors and Metro League Co-Player of the Year laurels as a senior.

In 2022, Cox led her team to the OSAA 6A State Championship while taking home MVP honors.

Cox is the sixth transfer to arrive at Rutgers for the 2025 season, joining Nata Ramirez (Columbia), Emma Johns (Arkansas), Morgan Hippeli (Arkansas), Marcia Ojo (Columbia), and Adela Vasakova (Slovakia National Team).
