Rush for the Cup to serve as qualifier for Generation Adidas Bethesda Premier Cup
(Via Maryland SoccerPlex, Alliance SC, Maryland Rush Montgomery, Bethesda SC) – Beginning in 2015, Rush for the Cup will serve as a qualifier for the nationally-renowned Generation Adidas Bethesda Premier Cup, hosted by Bethesda Soccer Club.
Rush for the Cup, held annually on Labor Day weekend, is entering its third year in 2015 and is sponsored by Alliance Soccer Club, Maryland Rush Montgomery and the Maryland SoccerPlex, which is the exclusive host of the event as well as the primary venue for the U-14 to U-19 showcase age groups for the Generation Adidas Bethesda Premier Cup.
Bracket winners in qualifier divisions at Rush for the Cup will receive automatic acceptance into the Generation Adidas Bethesda Premier Cup played over the two weekends leading up to Thanksgiving. Every Rush for the Cup age group on both the boys and girls sides will have one qualifying slot for the Bethesda Premier Cup, which has run for over 30 years and typically hosts about 800 of the top teams in the nation between the two weekends.
“We’re really thankful to Bethesda SC, it’s terrific when the soccer community comes together to create this kind of opportunity,” said Rush for the Cup Tournament Director Everett Hovencamp. “This presents a chance for kids who may not have made it otherwise to play their way into the Bethesda Premier Cup at one of the finest venues in the country with the SoccerPlex.”
Through the partnership with Bethesda SC and the club’s premier level tournament, the SoccerPlex, Alliance SC and Maryland Rush Montgomery will provide local teams and others throughout the region with a chance to play their way into one of the nation’s top showcase events.
Alliance SC, Maryland Rush Montgomery and the SoccerPlex also partner to host the August Cup, which is played the weekend before Rush for the Cup on 22 SoccerPlex fields. The 2015 August Cup will be played from Aug. 28-30, while Rush for the Cup will run September 5-6 with registration for both events opening on March 15.

“Alliance has always valued being an open member of the soccer community, joining in partnerships that will be of benefit to the kids and families that we collectively serve. “Maryland Rush Montgomery’s main objective is to create the best and most competitive soccer tournament in the Mid-Atlantic region during the Labor Day Weekend, and we feel that with our strategic partnership with Bethesda Soccer Club, we’ve taken a big step to accomplish this goal. Rush for the Cup will draw top talent, and teams will play their games at one of the best soccer venues in the country, the Maryland SoccerPlex.” -Kennedy Torres, Maryland Rush Montgomery President
“This is a great example of soccer organizations coming together to help each other, working collaboratively for mutual success. Rush for the Cup is a relatively new event while Bethesda SC’s tournament has become so successful over the last 30+ years that they are having to turn teams away. We’re thrilled that the SoccerPlex can be a central location for local clubs to come together and bring great soccer to the area.” –Trish Heffelfinger, Maryland SoccerPlex Executive Director
