Princeton introduces highly-ranked 2025 women’s soccer signing class

Ranked No. 22 in the nation by Top Drawer Soccer in March, the Princeton University women’s soccer Class of 2029 includes seven future Tigers from across the country and across the field to add to the reigning Ivy League champions’ roster.

“As we prepare for the fall 2025 season, I’d like to – once again – thank the graduating senior class for their unequivocal investment in our program,” Princeton head coach Sean Driscoll said. “We had a fantastic season last fall and so much of that was due to their commitment and leadership. While they will be dearly missed for both their talents and personalities, we are extremely excited to welcome seven new faces to our program. In this latest nationally ranked recruiting class, we have addressed every position. We believe the technical qualities, athleticism, character, and competitive drive of Nina, Sarah, Julia, Anna, Aubrey, Madi and Carson will provide us with healthy competition and depth across the field. Based on years of experience, our staff knows the only way to continue to move the needle in a positive direction is to have players (incoming and returning) consistently pushing each other to maximize individual and collective progress. With these seven impressive newcomers joining an already talented group of returners, we are excited to see what the fall has in store for our program.”

“Even though assistant coach, Chris Duggan, is completing his third year on campus, this is the first full recruiting class he has been involved with from its inception,” Driscoll continued. “I would like to thank him for his time and efforts to help assemble and track the progress of this group. A special thanks to associate head coach, Mike Poller, for his constant commitment to identifying and recruiting student-athletes that can compete at this level both academically and athletically. We have secured some fantastic classes over the past decade, all of which have been nationally recognized, and it would not be possible without his help and passion for PWS.”

Why Princeton? I have wanted to go to Princeton since I was 11 years old. After fifth grade, I attended an overnight Princeton soccer camp, and I immediately fell in love with the school, the campus, the town, and, of course, the soccer. I was so convinced that when my dad came to pick me up, I told him I would go to Princeton! Princeton offers unmatched academics. Unique to such a strong academic university is that the soccer program is also in the top tier. Princeton soccer is annually very competitive in the NCAA tournament and always one of the best teams in the Ivy League. My desire to attend and play at Princeton was reaffirmed during my recruiting process. In addition to everything I remembered, I felt a great connection with the coaching staff and became very excited to play for them. I am beyond grateful for the opportunity to play for Princeton soccer and grow as a player and a teammate. My goal while playing at Princeton is to be an integral part of the program, on and off the field, and help get us to the finals of the NCAA!

My Hero: My parents, siblings, friends, and coaches are my heroes. I do not so much as have one hero, but someone I aim to become. I strive to emulate different qualities I respect from all these different people. I see a drive to be the best in my parents. I need to communicate and work as a team member with my siblings. Picking people up when they are down or celebrating when they are up, I see in my friends. And in my coaches, I have seen discipline, work, and dedication to the thing that you love. The person I want to be, my hero, is in all of these people.

Driscoll on Cantor: Nina’s competitive mindset and relentless work rate combine to make her a force on both sides of the ball. As an attacker, she creates havoc for opposing defenses with her palpable desire to score goals. Her 1-v-1 capabilities off the dribble and her direct, well-timed, runs will test the organization and resolve of the backline. Nina uses her athleticism and pace equally well on the defensive side. She brings an intensity and pride in her defending as well as a willingness to press that we admire.

Why Princeton? Since I first thought about where I wanted to go for college, Princeton was the first place that came to mind. Initially, my dream of going to Princeton was because of the captivating architecture and the fact that it is one of the most prestigious universities in the world. However, after the recruiting process and meeting the players and coaches, Princeton wasn’t remarkable because of its rigorous curriculum. When speaking with the team, they were welcoming and energetic, and I immediately knew I wanted to be part of their unique culture. I clearly remember my first conversation with Coach Sean. I was a bundle of nerves until he began talking. We discussed other subjects outside of soccer, such as Taylor Swift. From that, I understood that he cared more than being a great soccer player; he also valued good character, contributing to Princeton University’s reputation. Additionally, speaking with coaches Mike and Chris during showcases made me more excited to become a Tiger. These experiences taught me that being part of Princeton Women’s Soccer means adding to a special place’s excellence and resilience, making me confident that Princeton is where I can become part of a community with the ambition to pursue academic and athletic excellence.

My Hero: My hero is my grandfather because of the impression he left on me ever since I met him. While I only have a few memories with him from when I was younger, his story inspires me to push myself through adversity. When he moved to America from Vietnam, he didn’t know how to speak English. He also had to find a way to sustain life for his kids and other relatives. Over time, he was able to run grocery stores with my grandma, persevering through the struggles of being an immigrant. During my time with my grandfather, he was one of the most selfless people I knew. Today, he left me with a kind heart, reminding me to take every opportunity I get to make an impact on my surroundings and seek growth even when facing challenges. The legacy and aspects of my grandfather’s life are ones that I always intend to exhibit in all situations.

Driscoll on Chau: Anna is among the most versatile players we have recruited. Since we started tracking her, she has played 10, 6, 8, 2, 3, 9, 7 and 11 – every position on the field except center back and goalkeeper. Her awareness and high IQ, as well as her overall willingness to do anything to help the team succeed, allows for this uncanny level of tactical flexibility. Anna’s technical qualities, work rate, and problem-solving capabilities will be a welcome addition to any of our three lines on the field.

Why Princeton? Attending Princeton was not tricky, as attending one of the world’s most prestigious institutions while competing at the highest level of collegiate soccer is an opportunity of a lifetime. Finding a school that would challenge me to strive for excellence in the classroom and field was significant throughout the recruiting process. When I toured the campus and met the team on my official visit, I felt as if I was at home. Princeton’s Women’s Soccer culture is one of unity, competitiveness, determination, and passion. I felt like I was a part of a family in an atmosphere where everyone pushes one another to improve daily. From my first conversations with Sean, Mike, and Chris, I felt welcomed, and it was clear they genuinely care about their players as people, not just athletes. To play for Princeton isn’t just an opportunity, but a privilege. It means a lot to me to represent something greater than myself and be a part of a legacy built on passion, discipline, and heart. I am blessed and excited to call Princeton my home and give everything I have to this team, school, and community.

My Hero: My dad is my hero because he’s the strongest and most selfless person I know. A few years ago, he suffered a massive heart attack that nearly took his life, and watching him fight through that changed me forever. Even in the face of pain and uncertainty, he never lost his will to keep going for our family and me. I saw what true strength looks like in the way he pushed through recovery with determination and never once asked for anything in return. He’s the one who taught me what it means to work hard, to lead with humility, and to love without conditions. He constantly shows up, whether driving me to early-morning games, standing on the sidelines in the pouring rain, or giving me pep talks when I doubt myself. He doesn’t need recognition, but he deserves it all. I carry his resilience, faith in me, and how he puts others before himself in everything I do. He’s not just my dad, he’s why I believe in pushing forward, staying grounded, and giving my all.

Driscoll on Crisostomo: Aubrey has featured in all three forward positions and also as an attacking midfielder. Her impressive speed and explosive first few steps will provide our team with another option to exploit space behind opposing backlines. Additionally, her time playing in the 10 role has developed her composure in tight spaces. Aubrey’s combination of 1-v-1 prowess as well as an ability to operate in between lines and be a facilitator will be another tremendous addition to our offense.

Why Princeton? I chose Princeton because when I visited and watched the team play, I immediately felt connected to the team’s playing style, energy, and unity. I felt familiar with Princeton’s playing style and how I see and approach the game. The coaching staff’s attention to detail and passion for development made it clear to me that Princeton’s a place where I’d grow every day. That, combined with Princeton’s commitment to academic excellence, matches my goals on and off the field. I’ve been saying that I wanted to go to an Ivy League school ever since I was little, and to come to Princeton and fall in love with its campus and academic approach, all while being allowed to be a part of Princeton’s Women’s Soccer, feels like a full-circle moment.

My Hero: My older sister, Erin, is my hero because she’s always set an example for me on and off the soccer field. As a player, she’s been a role model whose dedication and talent I look up to, and as a person, she embodies so many qualities that I aspire to have. Erin has inspired my love for many things, such as soccer, and she is charismatic to everyone around her.

Driscoll on Houston: Sarah boasts many eye-catching qualities. She is a creative and versatile attacker who can cause defenses headaches in a variety of ways – off the dribble, shooting from distance, or in combination with a teammate. In addition, she has the pace to run behind the opposition and the savvy to drop off the back line and shoot with either foot. Regardless of where she is deployed, her athleticism, composure, and attacking mindset will enhance our attacking profile.

Why Princeton? I chose to come to Princeton because it’s been my dream since childhood. I’ve always wanted to join the Princeton community and pursue high-level academics and athletics. As soon as I stepped on campus, it felt like home, and I’m so grateful that I’ve found a place that I’m excited about as much as Princeton. Playing for Princeton Women’s Soccer means so much to me. Both my parents (Sydney ’97, Jennifer ’97) went here, my dad coached basketball here, and my older sibling (Jalen ’26) currently attends. I’ve visited Princeton for others my whole life, but stepping onto campus knowing I’ve found my place here, too, makes me proud. The culture and feeling I got when I met my teammates and coaches made me even more sure that this was the right choice, and I’m so excited for what’s to come!

My Hero: My hero is my younger sister, Jemma. She’s my best friend and makes me smile every day. She’s relentlessly optimistic in every situation and has taught me to be more confident. She’s the most competitive person I know and refuses to quit on even the most daunting tasks. I know if I’m feeling down, she’ll make it her mission to cheer me up, and whenever I doubt myself, if I think of her and how brave she is every day, it helps me keep going.

Driscoll on Johnson: Julia is a leader. Her ability to cover ground and the pride she takes when defending, as well as her prominence in the air, are all easy to recognize. However, it is her unique way of communicating/organizing that sets her apart and shows tremendous maturity. She is always in complete command of her backline, which is among the more difficult qualities to find. Julia is well-respected by her coaches and teammates for the standards she sets and holds. She will be a terrific addition to our defensive group.

Why Princeton? I ultimately chose Princeton because of how welcome I felt by the team. In addition to the prestigious academics and beautiful campus, my first impression of the school was shaped by the players, and meeting the team immediately solidified my decision. Everyone I met—from the players to the coaches to the rest of the Princeton staff—was kind, and I knew I would thrive in that environment. The team’s competitive nature also drew me in after watching them play Yale and seeing firsthand how they pushed each other to improve individually and as a team. The coaching staff had a fantastic way of uplifting the team and setting the standards high, and I am so excited to be in an atmosphere like that. I am very thankful to Coaches Sean, Mike, and Chris for allowing me to be a part of this program and to learn at one of the top universities in the country, and I am so excited to join the Princeton community.

My Hero: My hero is my mom. She has done everything she can to give me as many opportunities as possible to help me become a better person, athlete, and friend. I define a hero as someone with so many exceptional qualities that you want to instill as many as you can in yourself, and my mom shows me every day what it takes to be a good person. As I got older, I realized how much my mom sacrificed for me and others, whether leaving work early to drive me almost two hours to soccer practice or handing out brochures to college coaches at every game. I want to take her selflessness and kindness and become a better person. It’s a gift to have such a caring mother, and she is my hero for encouraging me to treat people with nothing but respect, no matter what.

Driscoll on Proctor: Carson makes difficult saves look routine with her quickness and explosive first step. In addition to her shot-stopping capabilities, she is fearless inside her own 18 and will make challenging saves in traffic. While she is excellent with her hands, she is equally impressive with her feet. Her comfort with the ball and willingness to play higher up the field as a support to her back line – in possession – is something that immediately stood out. We value that mentality and the courage required to play in that manner.

Why Princeton? I chose Princeton because it has everything I want in a school. It has top-notch academics and athletics, a close-knit community, and an environment that will push and challenge me, which is what I was looking for in a school. When I chose Princeton, it would be the perfect fit for me and the place to help me be the best student, athlete, and person I could be. To play for Princeton Women’s Soccer means to play for a program that stresses competitiveness, discipline, camaraderie, and family. It means being a student-athlete at the highest level and being focused and disciplined with everything you do. It also means being part of a team that is more than a team, and helping each other improve daily.

My Hero: My younger brother is my hero because, although he is younger than I, I look up to him in many ways. He just turned 15 and lives in Germany with my mom to play soccer for VFB Stuttgart, a Bundesliga Academy team. He exemplifies what it means to sacrifice things to achieve your dreams and be determined and focused on what matters most.

Driscoll on Recupero: Madi covers every blade of grass on the field. She has a nonstop engine and a steadfast consistency that inevitably impacts every game both offensively and defensively. Her work rate, technical proficiency, and impressive problem-solving capacity – with and without the ball – will complement our midfield. Moreover, her vision and ability to create goals for herself and her teammates will add another dimension to our attacking arsenal.
