Oklahoma State and Kansas State each land two Big 12 weekly honors

Kansas State and Oklahoma State both secured two weekly Big 12 soccer awards this week while Texas Tech earned its first this season. OSU’s Hannah Chance shares offensive honors with TTU’s Ashleigh Williams while Alex Morris (OSU) collects Defensive Player of the Week. K-State garners its second and third weekly accolades of the season in Murphy Sheaff (goalkeeper) and Jo Sees (freshman).

Chance played an active role in five of the 11 goals that the Cowgirls registered in Week 2. The junior had four shot attempts and scored two goals against Florida Atlantic in the 3-0 victory. She wasn’t done for the week as she knocked in three goals during OSU’s 8-0 win over Little Rock. Her hat trick was the first for the Pokes since 2019 and is the 18th overall in program history. Chance is currently tied for second nationally in goals this season (5).

Williams posted five goals in Week 2 to extend her scoring streak to three consecutive contests. During Tech’s 4-1 win over Ball State, she recorded her second career hat trick and finished the match with four of six shots landing on target. The Allen, Texas native became the first Red Raider to record three straight multi-goal games on Sunday when she registered goals in the second and 35th minutes in TTU’s 3-0 win against Utah State. Williams has scored seven goals this season and leads the nation in total goals scored.

Morris and the OSU defense held FAU and Little Rock scoreless with a total of 13 shots attempted (6 SOG) from both teams. She played an active role in some of the 11 goals scored this week by the Cowgirls as she assisted on three. Her two assists against Little Rock tied a career-high and ranked her tied for fourth in the country with four assists.

During the second week of the 2023 campaign, Sheaff marked her second and third shutouts following a win against UTSA (2-0) and a tie against Creighton (0-0). Four saves were recorded by the sophomore who faced 17 total shots. Only allowing one goal in the season opener, she set a program record for scoreless minutes in goal (350:17) and leads the Conference with a 0.26 goals-against average.

Within two minutes of subbing into the match against UTSA, Sees recorded the game-winning goal and an assist to help K-State extend its unbeaten streak (2-0-2). Sees is tied on the Wildcats’ team for most goals scored this season while leading the team with five points.
