LSU, Florida and Georgia standouts named SEC Soccer Players of the Week

The SEC Soccer Players of the Week have been revealed following the second week of action in the 2023 NCAA women’s soccer season.

See below for a look at the SEC’s Week 2 award winners:

Offensive Player of the Week

TAYLOR DOBLES (LSU)
F • Gr. Pembroke Pines, Fla.

Dobles led the Tigers to a 3-1 victory at No. 9 Texas. It was LSU’s first road win against a top 10 team. The forward recorded a brace to match her season high of two goals in a single match. It was the first time LSU has defeated Texas in program history.

Defensive Player of the Week

ALEXA GOLDBERG (FLORIDA)
GK • Sr. St. Petersburg, Fla.

Goldberg turned in her third solo shutout at Miami (Fla.) and played first half of Florida’s 8-0 win versus Stetson. The shutout at Miami brings Goldberg’s career total of shutouts to eight. Three shutouts is the most for Goldberg since the 2021 campaign. It is the seventh time – and first since 2017 – UF has opened a season unbeaten through the opening four matches. This is the first time in the program’s 29 seasons that a Gator team opened a season with four consecutive shutouts.

Freshman of the Week

CAROLINE SMITH (GEORGIA)
F • Fr. Woodstock, Ga.

Smith helped Georgia ignite its comeback victory over No. 22 UCF with an equalizer in the 83rd minute. Following a shot by teammate Hannah White, Smith came from the left side and deposited the goalkeeper’s rebound to knot the score at one. White would later win the match for the Bulldogs with a go-ahead goal in the final minute of play. Smith tallied her first two shots and first goal of her Georgia career.
