Colorado Springs Switchbacks sign 17-year-old forward Caden Hickox

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC signed forward Caden Hickox to a USL Academy contract for the remainder of the 2023 USL Championship season. The transaction is pending league and federation approval.

As a USL Academy signing, Hickox will have the opportunity to train and compete for the Switchbacks in the USL Championship without affecting his NCAA eligibility.

“Caden Hickox has a great attitude toward the game and especially learning the game. He always asks smart questions and understands what we need from him to help in his development,” said Switchbacks Head Coach and General Manager Stephen Hogan. “An attacking player with a great touch and composure, he has an eye for goal! We are delighted to add Caden to the group and we are very excited to see him progress as a player but more importantly a person.”

Hickox, 17, is a homegrown native of Colorado Springs who has played soccer since age five. A member of Rush Pikes Peak since 2013, Hickox has also been a standout for Liberty High School, and in 2022 was named to the CHSAA Boy’s Soccer All-State First Team.

“I’m so excited and honored to sign for my hometown club,” said Hickox “Colorado Springs is an awesome place and has been my home my whole life. This is a start of something special with an amazing club!”

Hickox will join the team for regular practices as well as be eligible for selection for the remainder of the 2023 season.
