North Carolina takes over top spot in NCAA Top 25 after BYU picks up first loss

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – United Soccer Coaches released the association’s college rankings for men’s and women’s soccer in all divisions of NCAA and junior college competition.

North Carolina claimed the top spot on the NCAA Division I women’s poll this week after previously being ranked second, as the Tar Heels remain unbeaten through nine games (6-0-3).

Three more undefeated teams take up the No. 2 through No. 4 spots: Stanford (7-0-1), Florida State (6-0-0) and Penn State (7-0-1).

Reigning national champion UCLA (6-1-0) rounds out the Top 5 with the Bruins’ only loss on the season coming against a strong BYU side. BYU just took their own first loss of the season, falling to Utah State, which dropped the Cougars down to No. 6 from No. 1.

See below for a look at the full Top 25.
