(Via US Club Soccer) – NorCal Premier Soccer, consisting of 223 clubs throughout Northern California, has organized a crowdfunding page to help local families affected by rampant fires.

Donations of any amount are greatly appreciated and will directly impact those families that have been devastated by these fires. As of Thursday morning, about 3,500 businesses and homes have been destroyed and 26 people have died – 14 in Sonoma County.

Here is the web page to donate. As of Thursday afternoon, nearly $20,000 has been raised – one-fifth of the $100,000 goal. NorCal Premier Soccer started the page and donated $5,000.

The following is an excerpt from an email from the NorCal Premier Soccer Board to Directors to members:

Hello NorCal Members,

As most of you are probably aware, there are serious fires currently burning in Sonoma, Mendocino, Solano, Sutter, Butte and Napa counties.

Our hearts go out to those affected by the fires. As soon as the situation turns from a life saving effort to a recovery and rebuilding effort, we will work closely with the soccer leaders of the affected clubs to let you, the soccer club community, know how to assist in helping their memberships.

NorCal has started a fundraising campaign, with an initial donation of $5,000.

Let’s come together as a soccer community to help families in need. Please donate generously! Our goal is to raise $100,000 in this effort.

Funds collected will be distributed, with guidance from leadership in affected clubs, to aid NorCal families who lost their homes in the fires.

Scheduled Matches:

Any matches scheduled this weekend in Sonoma and Napa Counties should be rescheduled for another weekend. This may extend to clubs in the outlying areas affected by smoke. There could also be air quality issues in surrounding counties depending on the direction of the winds.

If you are hosting a team from one of these affected counties please reach out to the clubs ASAP. However, please be aware managers may not have cell service or computer service and may possibly be out of contact. If you are unable to reach a coach or manager please reach out to the club leadership as well. Please be as flexible as possible.

The thousands of families impacted may include members of all of the following NorCal clubs:

  • Santa Rosa United
  • Atletico Santa Rosa
  • Deportivo Santa Rosa
  • Empire Soccer Club
  • Napa Soccer Academy
