Morgan Brian to miss USWNT friendlies with hamstring injury

CHICAGO (Via U.S. Soccer) – U.S. Women’s National Team midfielder Morgan Brian has been ruled out of the upcoming trip to Scandinavia for matches against Sweden and Norway. Brian, who experienced tightness in her right hamstring during last weekend’s NWSL match with the Houston Dash, is still returning to full fitness from a knee injury and it has been determined that she is not ready for international play.

Brian was initially named to the 21-player roster that will travel to Europe for matches on June 8against Sweden at the Gamla Ullevi Stadium in Gothenburg (1:30 p.m. ET on ESPN2 and UDN) and Norway on June 11 at Komplett Arena in Sandefjord (1 p.m. ET on FOX).

She will not be replaced on the roster and U.S. head coach Jill Ellis will bring 20 players to Europe. Ellis will name 18 players to suit up for each of the matches.
