McLean Youth Soccer coach Nicci Wright inducted to college hall of fame
McLean Youth Soccer coach and AGD Nicci Wright has been selected for the University of Victoria Sports Hall of Fame for the class of 2013.
She is the first female soccer player at the school to be awarded such an honor.
After being the Vikes’ goalkeeper from 1992-1996, Wright earned 36 caps for Canada and played pro with the Vancouver Whitecaps and Washington Freedom.
“I was very surprised when I received a call from the AD and I am obviously very honored to be selected this year,” Wright said in a statement. I have fond memories of my days at UVIC and playing there set up the opportunity for me to play for my national team and obviously to continue on playing internationally. I am still close to my former teammates and get back to watch our athletic teams play as much possible. Go Vikes :)”
