McLean Hotspur Green U-14 Boys earn spot in National Championships

(Via McLean Youth Soccer) – McLean MYS Hotspur Green U14 Boys won the 2015 US Youth Soccer Region 1 (East) Championships held in Barboursville, WVA from June 27 – June 30.

The tournament included the state champions and Region 1 league winners from 11 Northeastern and Mid-Atlantic states – Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia.

With the victory, the Hotspur also earned a berth at the US Youth Soccer National Championships, the most prestigious event in youth soccer, to be played July 21-26th in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where they will face the winners of the other regions of the United States.

In the final, the team defeated the PA Crew from Pennsylvania by a score of 3-0. In the semi-finals, the team won against FSA FC Elite from Connecticut by a score of 6-0.

The team is coached by Jamil Walker, a former MLS professional player with DC United, who was earlier named the 2014 NSCAA national youth boys coach of the year.
